For the 16th edition of Milano Film Festival, which will be held 9 to 18 September 2011, there are many innovations that will enliven the ten days of screenings, meetings and music in the heart of Milan. Two international competitions: the Feature Film Competition, with first and second films by directors from around the world and the Short Film Competition. The protagonist of the retrospective of the 16th edition will be Jonathan Demme, director of cult American film in which the Milan Film Festival pays tribute with more than 60 events that celebrate his filmography. Jonathan Demme will be hosted by the Milan Film Festival and will meet the public for a lesson in cinema. Another great new feature of this edition will be the appointment with the exhibition The outsiders, the champions of international cinema: a series of film screenings of the great masters in the Italian premiere.
The program also includes the long-established festivals such as Coup years, with a focus Soundoc dedicated to Vincent Moon, Focus Entertainment, Dating and many other Italians.

Per la 16° edizione del Milano Film Festival, che si terrà dal 9 al 18 settembre 2011, sono tante le novità che animeranno i dieci giorni di proiezioni, incontri e musica nel cuore di Milano. Due le competizioni internazionali: il Concorso Lungometraggi, con opere prime e seconde di registi provenienti da tutto il mondo e il Concorso Cortometraggi. Protagonista della retrospettiva della 16° edizione sarà Jonathan Demme, regista di culto del cinema americano a cui il Milano Film Festival rende omaggio con oltre 60 appuntamenti che celebrano la sua filmografia. Jonathan Demme sarà ospite del Milano Film Festival e incontrerà il pubblico per una lezione di cinema. Altro importante omaggio è quello al music supervisor Randall Poster che inoltre inconterà il pubblico del festival sia con una masterclass sul mestiere di music supervisor che con un djset. Altra grande novità di questa edizione sarà l’appuntamento con la rassegna The outsiders, i fuoriclasse del cinema internazionale: una serie di proiezioni di film dei grandi maestri in anteprima italiana.
In programma anche le rassegne ormai consolidate negli anni quali Colpe di Stato, Soundoc con focus dedicato a Vincent Moon, Focus Animazione, Incontri Italiani e molte altre.
